The education of our students is a team effort and we look forward to your support.
Important information:
- Free breakfast and lunch for all students
- Breakfast schedule 7:00 - 7:30 a.m.
- Morning announcements start at 7:40 a.m.
- Instruction starts at 7:45 a.m.
- Dismissal starts at 2:15 p.m.
- Photo Identification is required to sign out a child.

Ms. Tina Johnson
Welcome to Greenwood Elementary—where we are committed to excellence, growth, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to Take Flight.
I am both humbled and honored to serve as the principal of this dynamic school community. Originally from Waukegan, Illinois, I relocated to Beaufort County, South Carolina in August 1999. As the youngest of five siblings, I value family, connection, and lifelong learning—and I truly enjoy traveling and experiencing new places. I now reside in Florence and am proud to call this community home.
I began my journey in education in 2004, and it has been a deeply rewarding path. My experience as an instructional leader includes serving as an assistant principal for six years, as well as working as a state-certified evaluator trainer, evaluator, mentor, numeracy coach, master teacher, and middle school math teacher. Each of these roles has strengthened my commitment to student achievement and instructional excellence.
I am excited and energized to be a part of the Dragon family and to support the continued growth and success of Greenwood Elementary. Together, we will Take Flight—soaring with high expectations for rigor, accountability, and meaningful student engagement.

Assistant Principal
Mrs. Lakesha Durant
I am thrilled to serve as Assistant Principal of Greenwood Elementary. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from South Carolina State University and a Master of Science in Education and Leadership from Indiana University. Since 2004, I have enjoyed learning and growing in one of the world’s greatest professions. Over the past two decades, I have had the privilege of teaching second, third, fifth, and sixth grade, and serving as a MTSS Coordinator and Literacy Coach.
A new year brings along new opportunities to cultivate the minds of young learners and work alongside a dynamic staff to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment where children can grow and develop as strong readers, writers, and problem solvers. I look forward to partnering with our families, staff, and community, as we continue to strive for excellence at Greenwood Elementary and encourage our students to SOAR in both character and academics.
When away from work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children, reading, traveling, and exploring diverse cultures and cuisines.
