Ms. Tina Johnson
Greetings to the Greenwood Elementary School community! I am humbled and honored to be the principal of this dynamic school. I am originally from Waukegan, IL and relocated to Beaufort County, SC in August 1999. I am the youngest of five siblings and I love to travel! Now, I reside in Florence with my dog, Sunny “SJ”, and we are looking forward to exploring all that Florence has to offer. I transitioned into education in 2004. My professional experience as an instructional leader consists of six years as an assistant principal, state certified evaluator trainer, evaluator, mentor, numeracy coach master teacher, and middle school math teacher. I am excited and energized about being a member of the Dragon family and the growth opportunities at Greenwood Elementary. Welcome to a new school year! I look forward to meeting you and fostering relationships with the students, parents, faculty, and community!
Assistant Principal
Mrs. Lakesha Durant
I am thrilled to serve as Assistant Principal of Greenwood Elementary. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from South Carolina State University and a Master of Science in Education and Leadership from Indiana University. Since 2004, I have enjoyed learning and growing in one of the world’s greatest professions. Over the past two decades, I have had the privilege of teaching second, third, fifth, and sixth grade, and serving as a MTSS Coordinator and Literacy Coach.
A new year brings along new opportunities to cultivate the minds of young learners and work alongside a dynamic staff to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment where children can grow and develop as strong readers, writers, and problem solvers. I look forward to partnering with our families, staff, and community, as we continue to strive for excellence at Greenwood Elementary and encourage our students to SOAR in both character and academics.
When away from work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children, reading, traveling, and exploring diverse cultures and cuisines.
